Led by founder Thomas Brown, the firm offers over a decade of specialized experience in shaping narratives, elevating institutional profiles, and securing meaningful visibility for clients operating across museums, foundations, academic institutions, diplomatic organizations, galleries, and the art market.
Brown has advised a diverse roster of clients across the U.S. and internationally—including the American Friends of the Louvre, the American-Scandinavian Foundation, Asia Society Texas, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, Mendes Wood DM, Lisson Gallery, and Wave Hill. His campaigns have driven visibility for cultural initiatives at the United Nations, the Japan Pavilion for the 2024 Venice Biennale, Art Basel, and Frieze Art Fairs. Brown also collaborates with the Paris-based firm L’art en plus as a media consultant for English-language campaigns, supporting high-profile projects for clients such as Lee Ufan Arles, Fondation Louis Roederer, and Guerlain.
As a trusted media strategist, Brown develops customized, intelligent campaigns that extend beyond traditional press outreach. With a deep grounding in art history, institutional ecosystems, and market dynamics, he brings both intellectual acuity and strategic clarity to every engagement—placing clients at the forefront of contemporary cultural discourse and delivering sustained impact across leading global media outlets.
Thomas Brown Communications is supported by a network of trusted collaborators: independent consultants and senior-level freelancers who bring expertise across research, editorial development, project administration, and strategic execution. Each maintains their own professional practice within the cultural sector, allowing the firm to scale thoughtfully and provide clients with tailored, high-caliber support at every stage of a campaign.
Brown's career began at the Calder Foundation, where he supported major exhibitions dedicated to Alexander Calder at institutions such as Tate Modern, the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He later held key roles at agencies focused on arts and culture before founding his own practice.
Brown holds a B.A. in Visual and Critical Studies from Hampshire College, a Certificate in Management from Harvard Business School, and a Certificate in French Language from École Polytechnique. He has pursued additional studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Amherst College, and Smith College. He currently serves on the International Council of the World Monuments Fund, and has held affiliations with the American Alliance of Museums, the French-American Chamber of Commerce, the Communications Network, and L’Alliance New York.
